Hubless Network
With increasingly powerful satellites now becoming available, the possibility of direct VSAT-to-VSAT communications without a hub becomes technically feasible. The administrative functions of the traditional VSAT network hub station can now be assigned to one (or more) designated VSAT terminal, whilst permitting direct VSAT-to-VSAT communications in mesh architecture. Hubless networking is the most efficient way deploying small-to-medium size networks, because there is no a satellite hub that represents the single largest expense in a traditional VSAT network.
The EASTAR™ platform provides a variety of hubless solutions. Moreover EASTAR™ is the only VSAT platform that allows switching between different modes of operation just by a software key. There are two general hubless modes of operation: SCPC – based on dedicated lines to each network station or TDMA – with dynamically allocated common TDMA carrier.
