SCPC

Well known SCPC (Single Channel per Carrier) technology allows creating dedicated lines between two Earth Stations. In such channel each Earth Stations transmits one carrier and receives another carrier of opposite Earth station. Such carriers may have different data rates, providing any asymmetry of such SCPC channel or even could be organized via different transponders or satellites.

A simplex dedicated channel can be used to broadcast data to the unlimited number of receivers. In such network mode only one Earth Station transmits a carrier containing information for all other network stations, selected group of such stations and/or for an individual station. The information is multiplexed in time using IP-protocol mechanisms (TDM – time division multiplexing). All other Earth Stations receive this carrier in a whole, but route only the part of information that is intended for recipients on a particular LAN port.

Versatility of EASTAR™ routers is the unique advantage of this technology. At any time a simple SCPC channel can be transformed into a piece of the TDM/TDMA or TDMA-Full Mesh network, which will share resources, originally allocated just for the SCPC channel with a number of other stations in this new network. For example, the first satellite channel can be used as the main connection of a telecommunications facility with an intensive and constant traffic. In the future when terrestrial infrastructure becomes available, the Earth Station can be easily switched into TDM/TDMA network mode with dynamically-distributed bandwidth and will provide hot-redundancy for this terrestrial link.
